RENAULT will today (Thursday, October 25) take the wraps off the all-new Kangoo van, which will go on sale in the UK during the second half of 2008.

The new vehicle will, says Renault, retain all of the previous version’s character, but add greater comfort, modernity, quality and versatility.

New Kangoo van’s length of 4.21m frees up an optimised load capacity of between three and 3.6 cubic metres, while its interior width (1.21m between wheel arches) now makes it possible to accept a standard Euro pallet. Hinged, asymmetrical rear doors and the sliding side loading door (depending on version) give access to the cargo area. Versatility extends to the possibility of folding the passenger seat (optional) to increase carrying capacity to 3.6 cubic metres.

New Kangoo van will come with a choice of three diesel powerplants based on the 1.5 dCi block (70 bhp, 85 bhp and 105 bhp), plus two petrol engines (1.6 8v 90 bhp and 1.6 16v 105 bhp). Powered by the 85 bhp version of the diesel engine, new Kangoo van returns combined cycle fuel consumption of 54.3 mpg, equivalent to CO2 emissions of 137 g/km.

Short and standard wheelbase versions will be available and payloads range from 650 to 800kg. In the UK the new model will have two trim levels. Detailed specification will be announced closer to the launch date. (Renault: October 23).
