» Fleet Hire heads for growth as Bourne retires as MD
DAVID Bourne, one of the original founding members and current managing director of Fleet Hire will retire at the end of this year.
The Solihull-based contract hire and leasing company was set up as a greenfield start up in 2001 with funding from Forward Group plc. The business currently manages a fleet of about 5,000 vehicles.
Bourne will become a non-executive director to provide continued support and experience to the new management board going forward.
He will be replaced as managing director from January 2, 2008 by Graham Hale. He has held a number of senior management sales and operational positions within Capital Bank, Godfrey Davis Contract Hire and Bank of Scotland Vehicle Finance and was actively involved in a lead project role integrating the HBOS and Lex Vehicle Leasing businesses following the 100% purchase of Lex by HBOS in 2006.
Bourne said: ‘The time is ripe, under a new managing director, to take the company forward in a structured, profitable manner by concentrating on providing superior customer service. The aim is to double the fleet size over the next few years, and I am confident that Fleet Hire has both the people and systems to achieve this.’ (Fleet Hire: October 19).
