DAKSH Gupta, chief operating officer of credit hire company Accident Exchange has resigned and plans to return to the automotive retail sector where he has spent most of his professional career.

The role of chief operating officer is not currently to be replaced as the group said its senior management team had been strengthened and expanded considerably over the last 12 months. The department heads of the key business units will now report directly to chief executive Steve Evans.

The resignation, with immediate effect, came as the company said trading for the six months to October 31 was broadly in line with expectations. Rental days for the period will be approximately 510,000 with rental day growth in October forecast to be up approximately 9% on September after a slower than expected August and September.

Fleet utilisation of approximately 62.4% is slightly up in Q2 to date from Q1 (59.7%). (Accident Exchange: October 23).
